This P-HAB (High-Altitude Balloon) & GPS Tracker for Raspberry Pi is a specialized module designed for tracking and navigation at elevated altitudes. Ideal for high-altitude balloon experiments, this system provides accurate GPS coordinates and real-time tracking capabilities. Seamlessly integrated with the Raspberry Pi, the P-HAB ensures precise location data, enabling adventurous explorations and scientific investigations in the upper atmosphere.


The P-HAB (High-Altitude Balloon) & GPS Tracker for Raspberry Pi consists of three different models:

  • uBLox Max-7Q with Radiometrix NTX2B [Model 1]
  • uBlox NEO-M8T with Radiometrix NTX2B [Model 2]
  • uBlox NEO-M8T with Radiometrix MTX2 [Model 3]
    • The numbers correspond to the photo labels below

  • TMP102 Temperature sensor to monitor the Raspberry Pi's temperature
  • BMP180 Barometric Pressure/Temperature/Altitude sensor
  • i2c HTU21D Digital Temperature & Humidity Sensor
  • MCP3002 2-channel ADC voltage detector
  • 24c32 HAT EEPROM
  • TRACO POWER DC/DC converter 
    • TSR-1-2433: 3.3V
    • TSR-1-2450: 5V
      • DC input: minimum of 6.5V; up to 96% efficiency (no heat-sink required) that results in a longer battery life
      • 5V from the converter is provided to the Raspberry Pi & P-HAB module board
  • Raspberry Pi Camera Kit that can automatically take photos every few seconds and save them to an SD card


Specification

  • The uBlox NEO-M8T concurrent GNSS modules deliver high integrity, and precision timing in demanding applications worldwide. Support for BeiDou and GLONASS constellations enables compliance with national requirements. Enhanced sensitivity and concurrent dual-constellation reception extend coverage and integrity to challenging signal environments. Survey-in and single SV timing reduce timing jitter, even at low signal levels, and enable synchronization to be maintained with as few as one single satellite in view. Support for low-duty cycle operation reduces power consumption for battery-powered applications. u-blox timing products include timing integrity measures with Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (RAIM) and continuous phase uncertainty estimation. They feature high dynamic range radios with both analogue and digital interference mitigation, supporting applications in wireless communications equipment.
